A GLANCE Beyond the Record is a brief life story for a target ancestor, which includes available information on the key events of their life (e.g., birth, marriage, and death), with basic information on the places and people of their life limited to spouse, parents, and children (if readily available).
A LOOK Beyond the Record builds upon the GLANCE package by including a greater level of detail related to the historical context and salient events in the target ancestor’s life (e.g., Naturalization, etc.) and mentions of additional people that appear in the records.
A GAZE Beyond the Record is a complete life story of a target couple of ancestors, which follows them through space and time from birth to death. The information provided includes mentions of all of the people in their lives that appear in official records, details on their migration and the places where they lived and worked (with historical photos and newspaper articles if available).

Italy allows foreign-born nationals to apply for Italian citizenship by descent (iure sanguinis). In the past, the criteria for dual citizenship eligibility were fairly relaxed and interested parties mostly had to prove lineal descent from an Italian ancestor. Unfortunately, the rules have recently changed, making it more difficult for people of Italian descent to obtain Italian citizenship. Indeed, prompted by the rulings by the Corte di Cassazione, the Supreme Court of Appeals of the country, effective October 3rd, 2024, the Italian Ministry of the Interior issued new guidelines pertaining to Italian citizenship eligibility. Interested individuals are now only eligible if they can prove that their ancestors passed their Italian citizenship to their children with no lineal interruptions. In most cases, for Italian citizenship transmission to remain uninterrupted the Italian-born ancestor must have not naturalized until their foreign-born children reached adulthood.
Even the best families tend to lack the information and documentation required to prove uninterrupted citizenship transmission. We can assist you with researching your family history to trace your lineal descent back to your last Italian-born ancestor and determine whether they renounced to their Italian citizenship. If it appears that lineal transmission was not interrupted and that you may be eligible for dual citizenship, we will advise you on how to begin the official process, which typically requires the involvement of a legal professional.
